Chief Mixologist, House of Angostura

Raymond C. Edwards is the Chief Mixologist at the House of Angostura and a multi-award winning bartender. His passion for mixology motivated him to enroll in the World Spirits Academy where he earned his certification as a Master of World Spirits. Edwards uses the skills he developed at the Academy to create one-ofa-kind innovative cocktails which helped him earn the title of People’s Choice Winner at the Angostura Global Cocktail Championship in 2007.

As one of the most celebrated mixologists in the Caribbean, Edwards is known for his unique creations include the “Saga Boy Mojito,” “The Trinidad Swizzle” and the “T’Amaro Morning.” Recognizing his talent, the Caribbean Hotel Association inducted Edwards into their Hall of Fame in 2012. Other accolades of Edwards’ include the Triple National Bartending Champion Trinidad and Tobago 2006-2008 and Bartender of the Year (Taste of the Caribbean) 2007.

Edwards discovered Angostura bitters for the first time as a boy growing up in the seaside village of Toco. He admits bitters were an acquired taste, but he quickly learned to admire their versatility and ability to accentuate flavor in any cocktail. He is proud to represent the Angostura brand as Chief Mixologist and believes “No cocktail bar worth its salt is without a bottle of Angostura.”

After 9 years in the industry, Edwards continues to make a name for himself. He has been hailed as a “Cocktail Guru” for his aptitude in paring food and drink as well as his affinity for fresh ingredients. He has worked alongside some of the industry’s top mixologists including Dale Degroff (The Grandfather of Cocktails, Tony Abou-Ganim (The Modern Mixologist) and Salvatore Calabrese (The Maestro). Edwards has collaborated on Television shows like Christmas Cooking with Chef Khalid Mohammed and Caribbean Flavors with Wendy Rahamut, and also makes annual appearances at notable cocktail events including The Manhattan Cocktail Classic and Tales of the Cocktails in New Orleans.

When he is not busy working, Edwards enjoys leading training sessions where he can educate and inspire bartenders who share his love of the craft.
